1. Academic Policies
Grading System and GPA

Class Attendance Rules
- Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each course
- Attendance below 75% may result in automatic course failure
- Medical certificates must be submitted for absences exceeding 3 consecutive days
- Punctuality is mandatory - late arrivals (after 15 minutes) are marked absent
Important: Students with poor attendance records may be barred from taking final examinations.
Examination Rules and Academic Misconduct
- Students must arrive 30 minutes before examination time
- Valid student ID required for all examinations
- Mobile phones and electronic devices strictly prohibited
- Cheating, plagiarism, or any form of academic dishonesty will result in immediate failure
- Late submission of assignments: 10% penalty per day up to 3 days, then zero marks
Graduation Requirements
- Complete all required courses with minimum GPA of 2.0
- Clear all financial obligations to the institute
- Complete industrial training/internship (where applicable)
- Submit final project/thesis (for diploma programs)
Course Withdrawal and Add/Drop Procedures
- Add/Drop period: First 2 weeks of semester
- Course withdrawal allowed up to mid-semester with 'W' grade
- Written application required with academic advisor approval

2. Admissions Policy
Entry Requirements
- Certificate Programs: O-Level (UACE/UCE) or equivalent
- Diploma Programs: A-Level (UACE) or relevant Certificate with credit
- Short Courses: Basic computer literacy and English proficiency
- All international students must provide translated and certified documents
Application Deadlines
- Regular intake: 4 weeks before semester begins
- Late applications considered on case-by-case basis with additional fees
- International students: 8 weeks before semester for visa processing
Transfer Policy
- Students may transfer credits from recognized institutions
- Maximum 50% of program credits can be transferred
- Transfer students must complete at least one full academic year at Monaco
- Academic transcripts and course descriptions required for evaluation
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Work experience may be considered for course credit
- Professional certifications evaluated on individual basis
- Portfolio assessment required for RPL applications
- Maximum 25% of program credits through RPL

Expected Student Behavior

Staff Conduct Guidelines

Use of School Property
- School equipment for educational purposes only
- Report any damages immediately
- Students liable for deliberate damage to property
- No removal of institute property without authorization

4. Disciplinary Procedures
Types of Offenses
Minor Offenses:
- Late coming to class
- Inappropriate dress code
- Disruption of classes
- Failure to follow instructions
Major Offenses:
- Academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism)
- Harassment or bullying
- Vandalism or destruction of property
- Use of illegal substances
- Violence or threatening behavior
Investigation Process
- All incidents reported to Student Affairs Office
- Preliminary investigation within 48 hours
- Student right to present their case
- Disciplinary committee review for major offenses
- Written notification of decisions

5. ICT & Library Usage Policy
Responsible Use of School Computers/Internet
- Educational and research purposes only
- No downloading of unauthorized software

Strictly Prohibited:
- Gaming during class hours
- Hacking or attempting to breach security
- Accessing pornographic or violent content
- Installing unauthorized software

Library Borrowing Rules
- Valid student ID required for borrowing
- Maximum 5 books for 2 weeks (renewable once)
- Reference books for library use only
- Overdue fine: UGX 1,000 per book per day
- Lost book replacement cost plus processing fee

Refund Policy
- 100% refund if withdrawn before classes begin
- 75% refund if withdrawn within first 2 weeks
- 50% refund if withdrawn within first month
- No refund after one month of classes
